This white paper provides an exploratory analysis and visualization of data related to the study of epilepsy. In the US, every 1 in 26 Americans will develop epilepsy in their lifetime, which brings the total to about 3 million Americans and 65 million people around the world living with epilepsy. It can happen to anyone at any time and many have no diagnosis or reason.
Most of the information presented in this white paper is based on hospital discharge information. This data represents a subset of a specific type of epilepsy for the Diagnosis of Focal Epilepsy and Epileptic Syndromes with Complex Partial Seizures.
Summary statistics and visualizations prepared with SAS and Tableau are presented to get detailed information on each of the contributing variables.
